Yesterday, Instagram’s CEO Kevin Systrom made this announcement at a press conference held at Facebook’s headquarters.

This new Instagram feature has been  dubbed “Video on Instagram” and it lets users create a short 15 second video that can be enhanced with 13 filters that have specifically been created for video.

Roll out plans

The new Video option on Instagram is now being rolled out to all iOS and Android users today which could have an impact on Twitters Vine video option which recently surpassed Instagram on Twitter for most shared content. In a bid to keep ahead of Instagram and its announcement, Vine  announced last week a range of new features.

Instagram’s CEO stated that Instagram currently has 130 million monthly users with over 1 billion likes being registered every day!

A few people l have spoken to say its just ok. I guess time will tell in terms of converting people from single shots to video.

What do you think of the new Instagram video add-on?
